Are Urtext editions worth the money?

Nitpick - He pronounces it "er-text" rather than "oor-text."

I like to compare urtext with some of the better edited versions - e.g. Schnabel or Casella editions for Beethoven.
I’m finding Barenreiter does wonderful work and in a few cases prefer it over Henle.
And while I have the big volumes of Beethoven Sonatas, when working on a particular sonata, I prefer the printed copy of that single sonata. It is easier to carry around and easier to keep open.

The top of my piano. Just a fucking mess like my personality. A mix of urtexts, papers in files, internet prints and some ancient schirmers probably 60 years old. All of which I can’t play anyway.
Although now that I’m creeping towards cutting down on work days I’ve restarted piano lessons. Which just means more shit on top of the piano.
