The place where I had surgery today is not on the main campus of the hospital. It's at a "surgicenter" about half a mile away. Parking is in a public lot.
Totally new way of parking. When you pull in, you tap your credit card on a scanner (or your phone, etc). The gate rises and you go ahead and park.
When I registered, I was given a piece of paper with a QR code on it. I was told to scan the code when I leave and I'll only pay the discounted rate - $17.
I was escorted to the garage door by the RN. I scanned the QR code and saw this:
She said I have to scan it as I leave.
We drove up to the exit and I saw the same message. Tried three times, and ended up saying "Fuck it" because there were cars behind me. I tapped my phone at the sensor and the gate rose.
I did not get the discount:
I messaged the outfit, asking for a refund.

Parking is INSANE in Chicago. About 4 years ago, I attended a holiday function at the Hyatt Regency. Parking was $75. Since that was back before inflation, I have to figure it is close to or over $100 now.
