He'd better count.
He can barely count.

We've all been pummeled with the "fact" this was a racist event. Protests. Riots. Cats and dogs mating in the streets.
So now, it turns out that the cop probably would have been an asshole to anybody in Floyd's condition. Because he could.
You're using a single caricature to describe "the protests," which I'll admit is advantageous for your agenda but isn't at all helpful with objectivity. (And by the way, you're moving the goalposts: I thought these protests weren't protests at all? I thought they were just an excuse to riot? If you're going to be single-minded about all the incidents nationwide then you need to pick one: excuse for anarchists to riot, or a ginned up anti-racism campaign.)
There's the incident itself, and the demonstrations. As far as the demonstrations go, you have (1) people wanting real change in the policing infrastructure in many states and cities, (2) the woke, and (3) rioters.
2 and 3 I think we both agree aren't worth taking seriously, and it's why I'm not against statue destroyers being rounded up by police. As for (1), their position is not informed only and exclusively by George Floyd. They've been harping on this for a long, long time. So you're going to have to do better than explaining away one incident if you want to discredit their position.
Anyway, that's a very rough sketch of the actual landscape we're dealing with. If you're going to lump it all together because you dislike them all equally then we're going to get nowhere.

I think circa 100% of the people on the streets would have characterized their emotional response as against institutionalized racism rather than against police misconduct regardless of race. And rightly so. I mean, as reasons go, it is more plausible to react that way to this racism narrative than it would be to a notion that police misconduct is a super important issue for all of us which transcends skin color. Which puts the racism narrative squarely in the sights of those who wonder whether there's a huge problem here that merits the reaction.

I think the idea is if enough of us white folk self-flagellate with Robin D’Angelo’s book it’ll fix the schools in Philly.

Note the word riots in my post. They may have started out as protests, but they devolved into riots very quickly.

Most white folk don't even know who D'Angelo is. Most black folk either.

Are you trying to tell me that the schools in Philly won’t be fixed this year?

Bud, you don't count.
He'd better count.
Why should he? Jon is white, upper middle class to lower upper class, socially liberal, but financially centrist and he will sometimes surprise you with a conservative opinion on an issue. He's not the poster boy for "woke" at all.
In the world of"Woke", he doesn't count.

If you want to go belly up before the woke barrage, feel free. I say Jon had better count because he has a functioning brain, and the more dysfunctional things get, the more vital he and others like him will become. Forget his politics, his race, his class and everything else. None of that matters in this business. What we will need is his vision.

I've been told jon functions well, when he builds up pressure.

Aqua’s sister can’t keep her mouth shut.
But then we ALL knew that.

George previously commented that he doesn't care how many of the protesters are demonstrating peacefully, because to him the rioting negates that.
That's a fair position. Saying though that all of the peaceful protesters just disappeared and none of that exists anymore is completely untrue. If you believe that then you're only listening to your preferred echo chamber.

Don't need an echo chamber, just a set of Mark I eyeballs...You're bending over backwards so far to be fair, you're letting the hogs stampede through the lot gate.

No, I'm more or less siding with George at present. The peaceful protesters are still out there, and I think there are legitimate gripes, but the peaceful don't seem to be doing much to speak out against the woke racists and the rioters, which needs to happen.
Otherwise, yeah. Being objective takes work. Extracting an accurate understanding from outrage porn confirmation bias on both sides takes work. That's what's required.
