I got an owie!

I had to take Boris to the groomer today. He and Maggie both freak out when they see the carrier, so I made a point of bringing it out two days ago, with the top opened and sitting in the living room.
Came time to load Boris into the carrier, he went nuts. Of course, the lid dropped down, so I had to hold him with my left arm, while opening the lid with my right.
He was not happy, and struggled. He managed to dig a claw into my hand. And not just into my hand, into a VEIN in my hand.
Blood everywhere.
It was like an IV tech missed getting the vein and then just pulled the needle out without applying pressure.
(side note: I've always had a low platelet count and I'm on aspirin)
The arrow points to the entry wound. You can see the discoloration over the back of my hand - the "pale-ish" part is where the bandaid was applied. You can see how I bled up above the wrist.
When I had cats and that there was a task ahead that would result in a freak out as you experienced, I always donned my pair of high cuffed leather welder’s gloves that I wore for horseback riding. No house cat could bite or tear through those.

Ow!!! George. Seems like you are okay, but I hope so.

@taiwan_girl thanks!
I'm totally fine.
Boris has HUGE claws and he is, despite his size, remarkably gentle. He's never struck out at us, never bit, never even hissed.
This was just fear and self-protection.
As I said, little pain, just a lot of blood from a venipuncture.

Glad to hear, but it was one of those posts where I want to close my eyes while reading it! 555

I don't have high cuffed leather welders gloves like Renauda. But I do have a suede jacket, gardening gloves, and a fencing mask. It's not sexy, but it works.
The fencing mask seems prudent. I have welders gloves too. Protects arms and hands.
