Anybody have an automatic espresso machine?

I mean one of the good ones, not Nespresso style. We're getting a Jura E8 delivered this week. I'm excited. I've been going to all the local specialty coffee shops to get an idea of what good manual espresso tastes like, so I have some calibrated taste buds for what will, as far as I've read, be an inferior but still decent homemade version.

I used to have a very basic manual machine but I rarely used it.

I went to a coffee shop this morning with a real live french barista behind the counter. Best espresso I've had so far. Then I went to a coffee shop owned by some sort of latino immigrant family, and the mom, after trying to figure out the register to charge me, made my espresso in a paper to-go cup, even though I told her I wanted it for here. I reminded her, and pointed to the porcelain cups on top of the espresso machine, and she apologized, and poured the paper cup of espresso into a porcelain one. It was awful compared to the one from the French guy.

Racist.

Jura are "Bean To Cup, Automatic Coffee Machines"
While they are probably the best in the "Bean to Cup Full-Auto" camp, they are not a traditional E61 group-head (or even different sized group head) semi-auto or full manual espresso machine.
Full auto machines do not have the fine level of control of the traditional machines.
I went from a Flair Pro then to the 58+ model full manual espresso machine to a semi-auto. My semi auto cost about the same as the Flair 58+ so it is not a high-end machine. I intend to get a better machine someday soon.
The Flair Pro3.

I guess if you had a compulsion to see everything as a competition, and hadn't noticed I'd said in my first post that this machine does not produce espresso at the level of a manual machine, you could consider Mark's post a checkmate of sorts. But most people who buy one of these things understands that they are buying the convenience, and trading some espresso quality.

I guess if you had a compulsion to see everything as a challenge to yourself personally, you might come to that conclusion. But most people on TNCR would see my comment as a joke playing off the well-known fact that Mark has had many hobbies over time and dives into them completely and achieves deep knowledge of the subject.

Sure jon. Your checkmate didn't relate to some game where someone wins. And you definitely don't have a compulsion to treat everything as a competition. You're like the opposite of that guy. Consider me gaslit.

I would have made the same joke if he had been responding to my post.
We have different levels of self-confidence I guess.

You are definitely not compelled to treat everything as a competition. I already told you I was gaslit, no need to pile on.

You two need to back off on the coffee.

Incidentally, I simply cannot believe that people spend three FUCKING grand on a coffee machine in order to drink a rather unsophisticated alternative to tea.

Use that inflation raise you got and git you one.
I'm afraid that money was allocated fairly rapidly to a different kind of beverage, possibly helping the French and Scottish economies.
