          Presidents dont often take a long term view unless there is a short term benefit that is added to it. Maybe President Trump will not have this mentality since he is not worried about reelection.

            Yeah but Trump isn’t worried about what the historians will think, he’s interested in receiving applause right now. That’s an even worse incentive for short term thinking.
