Notre Dame reopens

Did not think it was 5 years already!

Right? Though what artisans there are were probably eager to help. Imagine that on your resume.

Mind blowing that they could not just restore it but do it accurately. Where do you find that kind of artisans these days?

I just watched a cooper who works for Jameson (yeah, they still have coopers. He's 5th generation for that company.) He went over some of his tools and their history. He mentioned Notre Dame and the reconstruction. Some of those tools go back to Roman times.
Extra interesting: handwork tools for woodworking have many examples of simultaneous development: New Zealanders, Native Americans and Germanic tribes in Europe all independently developed some eerily similar tools.

Forgive them, for they did not have a Department of Efficiency driving them to do it cheaper and faster.
