My comment a few seconds ago in the 2023 draft pick cut thread included the name of the mayor of DC, which I had to google despite the fact she’s been mayor for many years.

This could be influenced by where I live and have lived, but it seems to me that those of us who pay attention at all to politics:

    1. Always know who the mayor of NY is.

    2. Generally, but maybe not always, know the name of the mayors of LA and Chicago.

    3. Know the names of other cities’ mayors only if there’s a scandal of some sort (I knew Marion Barry’s name, for example), or if they make the news for some specific reason, usually not good.

#1 isn’t just geographic bias, I’ll claim. I knew the names of NYC mayors even as a kid. Who didn’t know who Ed Koch was?

What says you guys? Am I off base?

Off the top of my head:

      Chicago (duh)
      NYC
      San Francisco
      Los Angeles

I've known the name of every mayor of NYC. I have no idea what the name of the mayor of my town in Florida is. Chicage, yea now, he's "out there" . Nobody else.

But you knew of the Daleys, Rahm Emanuel, maybe Harold Washington. Lightfoot.

              Unfounded rumor...

When Harold Washington had his fatal event (heart attack?) a couple of my colleagues tended to him in the emergency room. There were rumors that Washington was wearing "interesting" undergarments.

They refused to comment either way.

By the way, I didn’t have unaided recall of Byrne, but with your nudge I remember. I don’t remember Bilandic. Maybe I was overseas then.

Off topic but I’m going to Phoenix in February. At that point I will have visited the top 19 cities, and 25 of the top 30.

                                I visited 24 of the top 30

For some reason, I was thinking the other day that I used to know who was the mayor of the cities mentioned.

No longer. Maybe because we don't all watch the same nightly news anymore.

I forget the name of the mayor of the town where I live. I have met him and talked to him, but I forget his name.

Of course I forget a lot of things now.

I wholly agree, Jon. Since Lindsay ive always known the NYC mayor’s name, usually the other three major cities too.

Your Johnson is smaller than the mayor's, which contains a T.

Perhaps the Chicago one, but not the Denver one. Or so I might speculate.
