    Hmmm,

    Black castle takes white queen

Ahhh, then white horse moves to F7, correct?

Also, King takes Queen, Bxh7 check, K-h8, N-g6 checkmate, which is very nice.

I am sure there are millions of chess positions that have non-obvious best moves. I'm not sure we need to make threads about them, but I don't judge. I never judge.

They're all non-obvious if you're shit at chess.

Gratuitous posts about how fascinating a chess position is, might serve certain purposes other than to have interesting conversation about how fascinating a chess position is. But I don't judge. I like threads that are unambiguously about having interesting conversations, or at least the potential for them.

            Thats me!!!

I have the Magnus Carlson app on my phone and one of the options is to play against him at various ages.

I think he beats me when he turns 7 years old. LOL

I bought a bobby fisher biography many decades ago and it had a bunch of his games in an appendix. I would play them out on a chess board, to see genius in action. But I wasn't good enough at chess to appreciate any of the genius.

In my twenties, I used to play for my town's chess club and read books about it and everything, and I regularly got beat by a kid who was about 10 years old. Of course, he didn't look so clever when I punched him in the face.

OK, one last position for anybody who's interested, since I thought this was wonderful, and very unusual. White can take the Queen with check, but he gets mated.

White's only move is rook to E1.

Rook to E1 wouldn't help. After ..RE8 and RE2 and then RxE2 the situation would be worse than before.

D3 might be a move, no?

Still loses the Queen, but at least taking a black Bishop with it.
