From a couple of months ago, still pertinent... College bang for the buck:

“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

What people don't realize is that a degree does two things - it gets you the initial interview and perhaps gives you a social network that may help more than the degree. Past that it's all what you do with it. You can look at the statistics, but it is still ultimately individual effort.

I suppose a computer science degree from a local state college is still a better investment than a social work degree from Harvard.

        Education is extremely important.

I have a friend who was out here giving acting a go then had kids, moved back to Chicago, and got an MSW at U of C. Can’t imagine the debt load.

Her husband is a public school teacher. They actually live in Oak Park.

Ha they have a house. I assume a rental. But I think her dad does well, he takes all the kids and grands to Disney every year, which must run 50k+.

              He might have helped.

Someone had to have. Otherwise, they defy the laws of financial physics.
