    Cool thread idea!

What makes embassys so interesting to you that you spend all that time visiting them, @taiwan_girl ?

@Klaus Good question!! Gives me a chance to see different parts of Bangkok, and just curiosity about them, and a chance to spy on people in the embassy if possible. (just joking on that last part!!!!!)

Kind of funny. It was Sunday, so I knew they would be closed but did my usual "act like I belong" as I walked past the guard desk. However, when I took the lift back down, there were two guards at the lift door asking me what I was doing. 😬 I explained that I thought the embassy may be open because it was an Arab country and they used different days of the week.

        Below is Canada
        IMG_1371.JPG
Again, it was a Sunday, so could not get up to the actual embassy. Not sure if I count this an official visit or not. LOL

        Below is Bulgaria

        IMG_1446.JPG
This is an honorary embassey/consulate and is actually run out of a company office. I walked into the lobby and wanted to go to visit, and just at that moment, when I was talking to the guard, the honorary consul walked in the lobby!! The guard called her over and she was very nice and just talked to me in the lobby and I did not have an excuse to go up to the office. LOL

        Rumania is below

The above two pictures are the location of the honorary consul of Ivory Coast. It is in somebodys house.

They were quite nice and friendly there. They saw me standing out in the hall and invited me in so I had to make up some questions as to why I was there. LOL

Interesting pics, TG! Would be cool to have an honorary embassy in my house. I guess it doesn't enjoy the diplomatic immunity of a real embassy though.

@Horace Great minds think alike. I have thought the same thing. Find some obscure country and offer to be their consul. LOL

I got to know, in a professional and over time, social capacity, the local Honorary Consul for a European country which is now a EU member state. At that time it was not an EU member. The position has few perks, minimal prestige and actually incurs a lot of unanticipated out of pocket costs in the faint hope of a meagre commission or finder’s fee on some small business transaction. Any big commercial deal has agents fully engaged and embedded well in advance of any negotiations. Not worth it. No thanks.

                  Elbows up!

Consulate of Syria. I believe the main embassy for this area is in Beijing. I am 99% sure this the correct location, but they obviously look like they went out of business. LOL

I have never heard of Burkina Faso. So I googled it. The country is beautiful.

Consul General of Papua New Guinea. It is located as part of a company office. They were quite nice in there to me. Gave me all kinds of tourism information on the country.

Embassy of Sri Lanka. Also quite nice to me. Met a Sri Lanka guy there who was working in Thailand who needed to talk to the embassy. He liked to talk and told me a lot about the country. LOL

                          IMG_1493.JPG

Building where Sri Lanka embassy is located. Also in the same building is Embassy of Israel. But there was ALOT of security for there, and I was kind of afraid to make up story to try to get to the Israel embassy. So, I kind of chicken out to go there. 555

If you look closely, you can see them listed. It appears to be just a "co-work" space so dont really know how active or available they are. I am guess it is a honorary consulate.

Above is the building with the Liberia Consulate. This is also a honorary consul. Building was gated and it was a Sunday, so I could not get inside to "check it out"
