I've had facial hair for 45 of the last 54 years.

When I first grew a beard, the last thing I wanted for it to look "pubic." You know what I mean, right.

So, gentlemen, if your facial hair resembles that of your nether-regions, don't even try.

Keep it short and you have no problems.

@Tom-K yeah, but look at the right butt cheek.

Even worse than pubicity is asymmetry.

ETA: For those who know Chicago, it has that "Lower Wacker" look.

            Lower Wacker indeed.

I was on Lower Wacker this AM, by the way.

For those who don't get it...Lower Wacker Drive is an underground road that parallels "Upper Wacker." Upper Wacker goes along the Chicago River and ends up close to the Gold Coast (Michigan Avenue). The problem with Upper Wacker is, basically, traffic. You're in downtown Chicago, and all the lights, etc will screw with your travel.

People are afraid of Lower Wacker because, once you're on it, there's only about half a dozen places to get out. You have to know where you're going. When I first started driving home from the university, Lower Wacker was the way to save 5-10 minutes. It was the home of countless homeless, bums, drug addicts, etc. Hence the joke.

It's been cleaned up - a lot - in the last 15 years, and is still the best way to get from the south Loop to the Gold Coast.

There was a chase scene in the Blues Brothers that was filmed there. The scenes are not in order of the drive, but you get a sense of the drive.

              Link to video

If you don't know it, it can be scary.

It may well be the only part of Chicago that is nicer now than 15 years ago.

FWIW, I haven’t been on it since the early 90s.

I commented on that to Mrs. George a few months ago.

It's well-lit. The sudden narrowing of two lanes down to one have been eliminated, and the possibilities for homeless encampments have been reduced.

Whenever I go down to Northwestern, it's my go-to.

The speed limit is 30 mph, but nobody pays attention to that. I was doing 45 this morning.

I was on it once when a mid-sized moving van was scraping the top. He was going 2mph trying to power through. And the funny thing was he was not some rando who rented a U-Haul. It was a professional moving company that should have known better.
