120 years ago on this day the inaugural Yorkshire Pudding Throwing World Championship was held in York
Over 1000 men took part in the competition until eventually 998 of them were eliminated throughout the day and it got down to the final two athletes.
The pudding chuckers in the final were Yorkshireman, Bert Smith and Lancastrian, Harold Jones
The final was best of three and with the scores at deadlock going into the final throw, Yorkshireman Smith threw his pudding 8.21 metres before Lancastrian Jones threw his pudding an astonishing 19.43 metres!
Celebrations were cut short however after a judge inspected Jones' pudding to find it had been illegally stuffed with rocks!
Jones was swiftly arrested and Bert Smith was then able to celebrate with his trophy, £5 prize money and due to his heroics he then had the pick of whichever glamorous lady he wanted from the attendees
Bert went on to win 3 Championships in a row before retiring at the top of his game and became known as the greatest pudslinger in the land.

I've never tried yorkshire pudding, but I've seen recipes and it looks delicious.

Pudding chucker sounds like a hideous euphemism for something that Yorkshiremen presumably do to one another.
They're a primitive people, but very opinionated.

That's what you do with British food after you eat it.

You know, I debated on using that word for that very reason.
