Fauci got West Nile virus. Which obviously didn’t get the memo that we don’t name viruses after places.

We don’t? There are tons of viruses named after places. Right off the bat, Marburg ( Germany) and Ebola [Africa) come to mind. And if that’s too obscure, don’t forget St Louis encephalitis virus. (That’s St. Louis Missouri), not to be confused with Venezuelan equine encephalitis virus ( that’s Venezuela in South America)
