Interestingly, Google also showed me Doc’s last performance was in 22.

      That story was from 2012.

      More: https://bestclassicbands.com/doc-severinsen-final-concert-8-31-22/

Doc Severinsen, who has been celebrated as America’s favorite trumpet player for more than half a century, has played what was billed as his final concert. The performance took place on August 27, 2022, at Universal Preservation Hall in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The leader for nearly three decades of The Tonight Show Orchestra (for host Johnny Carson) was 95.

      Yeah, 2022.

He wasn’t a real doctor. RIP anyway.

        Education is extremely important.

You mean he wasn’t a real dead guy either?

I think that is Doctor Jill to Doc's right.

Wouldn't it be great if all those musicians were named Doc?

Is it wrong that I've honestly never heard of him and that my favourite trumpet player was Miles Davis?

                I was only joking

Should add - Doc's thing was really big band sound, not Davis kind of jazz.

And everyone has Miles Davis albums, Doc was a different thing, he was with Ed and Johnny..

I don't have any Doc albums.

Oh, he played in a US TV band, I get it. That's why I've never heard of him. We never watched Johnny Carson in the UK.

I was aware of him, that’s about it.

As for Jazz trumpet players, I rather like Dave Douglas. Check out his 2015 album Dada People on the greenleaf label.
