We’re at the point where my oldest son can legitimately play board and card games with us. (No kid gloves)
Current favorite is Monopoly Deal (card game, nothing like the board game).
What games are your family faves?

I assume you mean beyond Life, Trouble, and other games where the spin/roll determine your fate and you actually use strategy?

I've got an 8 year-old granddaughter that plays a simple game of chess.

My daughter stacked the deck in Candyland so she could land on Queen Frostine. Nothing else mattered.

There are some good collaborative games out there - where all the players work to beat the game. Individually, an 8 year old may be too tough to play/undersatnd, but when part of a group, it may be fun.
