    After the Cardinals game...

    1. Trevor Penning at RT is a bust. First rounder, third year (hurt most of one year). Can run block, but is getting eaten alive by speedy rushers. Does not anchor well, does not ride DE's to the outside of the pocket.
    2. Rattler is the real deal and a lot of the teams that passed on him are going to be sorry. NFL arm, made all the throws last night, scrambled well. The knock on him is decision making, but he's got time to be coached up. I think he's the QB2, starting the season. If his decision making improves, he's a NFL QB1.
    3. Jake Haener. Jake looked pretty good last night, just not as good as Rattler. Doesn't have quite the arm. I do think he can play in the NFL, though. He'll be QB3 for the Saints, but if some team needs a QB2, he certainly could do.
    4. The Saints defensive line looked very stout. Not enough depth, though. Linebackers looked very good, with depth. Secondary is still search for a slot corner. Got four guys who could start at outside corner.
    5. The Irish kicker. Because of NFL rules, we have an extra slot on the PS for a foreign player. He's worth a slot. The Aussie from Vandy also looked good last night. Saints have four NFL quality kickers in camp.
    6. Once again, even with Kubiak, this is a Dennis Allen team. Beat you with defense and just enough offense to get by.

      Sounds good.

      Notes from Bengals-Bucs last night:

      1. Burrow and the starters looked awfully good for first preseason drive, ending in a touchdown.

      2. Backup QBs looked great. Woodside, our 3rd string, really performed well. He looked a lot like Burrow and his passes were almost always spot on.

      3. We would have won except for a very questionable 4th down last minute DPI call against us which gave the Buc 4 more downs on the 3 yard line resulting is a TD. Woodside got the ball back and we couldn't get a DPI call even when the defender had has arms around the receiver and tugging on his shoulder at catch time.

      4. Defense looked good all night. A few mistakes, but overall we have skill and depth this year.

      5. Chase's stock is sinking fast as he holds out for a better deal. I suspect he's losing a lot of respect in the locker room too. Iosivas, Higgins, Irwin and others all looked very good last night. Chase is a very good player but he's not all that and a bag of chips. He'd do well to start thinking more about the team than his contract.

      6. The O line looked really good for once.
