I can agree with that, but there are a lot of people who could change that.

Just a little bit of competence and common sense and integrity could grab the spotlight.

This country probably has millions of people who could do that. For example, look at what Oliver Anthony did. I'm not suggesting that he should run, but people can come out of nowhere.

Would anybody decent, honest, truthful and most important of all, sane want the job at this point?

    I was only joking

I suspect the GOP would benefit, but he has some crossover with the antivax stuff.

He’s more popular with the GOP than he is with Dems. But the people in the GOP who like him like Trump better. So I agree with your final conclusion.

2024 presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. plans to announce he will run as an independent on October 9 in Pennsylvania, Mediaite has learned.

Kennedy’s campaign machine is now planning “attack ads” against the Democratic National Committee in order to “pave the way” for his announcement in Philadelphia about running as an independent, according to a text reviewed by Mediaite.

“Bobby feels that the DNC is changing the rules to exclude his candidacy so an independent run is the only way to go,” a Kennedy campaign insider told Mediaite.

Could political parties go out of business any time soon?

No. Generally it’s easier to hijack one than create a new one.

              https://www.nytimes.com/2023/10/09/us/politics/robert-f-kennedy-jr-independent.html?smtyp=cur&smid=tw-nytimes

In a move that could alter the dynamics of the 2024 election, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. said on Monday that he would continue his presidential run as an independent candidate, ending his long-shot pursuit of the Democratic nomination against an incumbent president.

“I am here to declare myself an independent candidate for president of the United States,” Mr. Kennedy told a crowd of supporters outside the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia.

Since announcing his candidacy in April, Mr. Kennedy, 69, has been a sharp critic of Democratic leadership, which he has accused of “hijacking the party machinery” to stifle his challenge to President Biden. He has also said, in interviews and in public appearances, that the party has abandoned its principles and become corrupted.

Running as an independent will entail an expensive, uphill battle to get on the ballot in all 50 states. Last week, Cornel West, a liberal academic and presidential candidate, said he would run as an independent, abandoning his efforts to secure the Green Party’s nomination.

Mega-popular podcaster and comedian Joe Rogan said he supports Robert F. Kennedy Jr. for president in this fall’s election.

“He’s the only one that makes sense to me,” Rogan said on Thursday’s episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” podcast. “He doesn’t attack people, he attacks actions and ideas, but he’s much more reasonable and intelligent. I mean, the guy was an environmental lawyer and he cleaned up the East River. He’s a legitimate guy.”

Judge Christina Ryba ruled RFK made a “false statement requiring invalidation of the petition” by naming a rented room in Katonah as his place of residence.

What's wrong with renting a room? Why would a law prohibit someone who rents a room from running? There is no ancient provision that says you have to be a "land owner" to run, right?

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was unsuccessful with his request to discuss endorsing the Democratic nominee in exchange for a top administration job, according to two people briefed on the outreach.
