Opinion article from the LA Times. Most of it makes sense. President Trump is his own worst enemy, so if he wants to continue to "shoot himself in the foot", why distract from that?
The chief indication that the Harris team knows what it’s doing may be its effort to keep the candidate herself under wraps. Sure, we’ve seen a lot of her: in ads, scripted rallies and a few brief statements. But she hasn’t endured an extended interaction with the press since before the June 27 debate that doomed Biden’s candidacy. The last time was on June 24 on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe,” hardly a challenging venue for a Democrat.
The Harris campaign’s decision to avoid sitting down with an aggressive or even particularly curious reporter is not necessarily a sign that it lacks confidence in her (as many critics insist). Even if she were a fantastic off-the-cuff political communicator — which she is not — keeping her on script for a while makes sense. The longer she can be all things to all people — or at least to all persuadable voters — the better off she is. Answering hard questions runs the risk of disabusing some voters of who they think or hope she is.
Also, going back to Sun Tzu or Napoleon, it’s been a truism that when your opponent is flailing, you shouldn’t get in the way. This is particularly true in the Trump era: When people’s attention is focused on Trump, they don’t like what they see. And Biden’s withdrawal has provoked an eruption of ad hominem Trumpiness from the former president.
Last week, Trump railed against Harris’ identification as a Black woman and then spent a sizable chunk of his rally in Atlanta attacking Brian Kemp, Georgia’s deservedly popular Republican governor. Why would Democrats want to distract anyone from that?

Basement strategy, part 2.
You have to ask why did that strategy work in 2020?
Among reasons, the biggest one was that the best campaigner for the Democrats in 2020 was President Trump.
Who is the best campainger for the democrats in 2024? Yup, you guess it - President Trump.
So, if something worked the last time, and things have not changed a whole lot.................
It is the Republics who need to change their campaign strategy, but President Trump is unable or unwilling to let that happen.
Look at his press conference from yesterday afternoon. A repeat about 2020, an attack on Gov. Kemp, etc.
-
But at least he had a presser. Kamala-lama-ding-dong was asked yesterday when she was going to do a press conference. She replied that the reporter needed to talk to her staff, that they were working on something by the end of the month.
Maybe it will be like the last press conference she did... I think it was January, and she had all the questions beforehand...

@Jolly See my post above yours. LOL
I know you like US football. Imagine your team plays a team from the next town. During the game, the other team makes lots of penalties, throws you the ball, fumbles, etc etc etc.. Your offensive team is not very good, but the other team is so bad that you win the game.
You play them later in the season. The other team has the same players, and you have watched video of their games from all season, and they do the same thing with other teams that they did during your game.
Would you change your strategy for the game? Probably not.
I agree that VP Harris is "running" from the press, but what "upside" is there for her to change? Whether this can last for 90 days until the election is probably doubtful. But they will continue to use this strategy as long as possible.
-
She can do it regardless.
The press complained about the lack of press conferences from President Biden. President Trump had not given a press conference for 8-9 months since becoming the nomination for President.
But again, that all does not change the basic fact. What is the "upside" to her doing press conferences? The Democrats know what worked for the last election and is working for this election. Staying low and letting the opposition do the work for you.

You see no complicity in the media?
-
Sure there is. I agree with that.
But again, back to the basic question - what is the upside for her and the Democrats to do a press conference? I am repeating myself but President Trump is the best campaigner for the Democrats. The current strategy is low risk - high reward.
I don't fault them for doing it. I may not like it, you may not like it, but it seems to be working.

Good.
Now that you've admitted election interference, whatya gonna do about it?
@Jolly LOL. Nope, I do not think that there was election interference. Or are you saying the Fox News tipped the election for president Trump? 555
But again, what is the upside for VP Harris to have press conferences? I don't see one. "If it is not broke, don't fix it."
-
An unfair and unbalanced press is definitely election interference.
People only know what they know. And if everything is akin to Pravda...
