I rather like your tiled backsplash too. Classy!
I’ve an appointment in 2 weeks with a designer lady. My anxiety of the kitchen is high. I don’t do well with creative types. I know it’ll be quartz; I want a quartz backsplash too so I won’t stress over tile. I don’t want white/cream MDF on bottom cabinets, and I’m still recovering from yellowed honey-oak and oranged red-oak from the 90’s. I guess I’ll have to see my options and how expensive stained wood is. I might go rogue and ditch the shaker cabinets for something flat and modern. I really hate cleaning those crevices. -

I’d stay away from MDF too. Wood stains are coming back and there are some gorgeous ones, but pricey. You might consider colors - we only went with the gray bottoms because it worked well with the backsplash and it shows the wood grain. We will add color with wallpaper on the walls and tray ceilings -,probably a blue faux grass cloth.

Good to know. I’m doing vinyl plank (little ‘grain’, a light oak color) with this new place (zip no one does hardwood where I’m building). So I need to learn about durabilty options, grades, fading asap. We’ll be north facing again light wise. The Persian rugs go with us. But the kitchen island and cupboards are stressing me. Everything I see is white, blond oak, gold hardware.

@George-K Quite. I love these floors. We didn’t build this house; we couldn’t afford to. @Mik Despite our diligence and proper inspections, this house had to undergo major exterior and interior structural renovations. Let’s just say the repairs exceeded half the value of the home. So, we’ve recovered from that; it’s a safe house now, and we want out.

You have one thing I really love there which is a large, open dining area. It’s most of the reason we bought this house.
