An outrage I tell you. A mockery of the cult of Dionysius and the French Romantics. A spit in the eyes of Berlioz, Saint-Saens, Balzac, Hugo, Delacroix, Ingres and Dumas!
Harrumpf!
I thought the guy in one of the pictures produced quite an interesting interpretation of Balzac.
And just in case you missed it, Disgusted of Tunbridge Wells posted a photo of it just to make sure everybody got to see what was clearly keeping him up at night.

I don’t know how but I must have missed Disgusted’s post with picture this time round.

The perverts will now have to double-down at the closing ceremony.
Assuming they are still on the air.
He said perverts and double-down...

Personally I don’t like the lampooning of Da Vince’s art and genius more than anything else.
I feel the same. If that's all you can do, it's pretty pathetic.

You misspelled ball sack.

This was copied. It really sums it up.
Good news, everybody!
Your academic betters want you to know the Last Supper motif wasn’t the sole purpose of the Olympic vignette…but certainly a happy by-product intended to be provocative and controversial. It wasn’t just a pose to reflect religious art—which it absolutely was and did—it was also depicting a bacchanalia festival. Whew.
In other words, take a breath zealots and prudes. It’s not offensive at all.
Bacchanalia is a pagan festival marked by drunkenness, debauchery, and ecstasy. An orgy of excess, sexual extremes, and violent rite and initiation by both sexes AND for all ages.
Hence the child present. And the blue guy? You may or not have seen? Dionysus—the god of drunkenness, pleasure, fertility…religious ecstasy and ritual madness. The song he sang was about nudity and why everyone should be naked.
Which is so funny because in some of the stills you can see a guy’s testis (singular).
Also, where a child is still present.Don’t we all feel better now? Everything is fine. Return to whatever event is already in progress.
But here’s the thing—this was the goal. To offend, enrage, and alienate.
Gooooooooold!!!!!Keep in mind, we in the states didn’t even see the worst of what was produced and broadcast to the world.
And…it’s not just American white, conservative, evangelicals, who were offended.
It was the Catholic Church of France, the Archbishop of Canterbury, archbishops across Europe, representatives from the Vatican…they too issued rebukes along with Catholics and Christians around the globe.
Do you really think EVERYONE misunderstood?
Or do you think EVERYONE understood perfectly—because it was what it was and that was the intention? This is who the art director is. This is what he does—walk exactly on the line of blasphemy and debauchery, using religious iconography, sexuality, and hedonistic themes.
And when it’s recognized and not celebrated…plead innocent with a wink and a nod.
Watch the games. Don’t watch them.
No one knows and no one is going to care. No medal will be given or withheld for those who do or don’t. Heck, I likely will when I get over being good and ticked off.Lots can be true at once—we can not judge others while lacking judgment. We can be un-offended by one thing and totally miss the offense that should have registered.
It is unfortunate for all.
It is unfortunate for what it says and reveals…and kid—it’s not nothing.
It’s unfortunate that actions have consequences. But they do.
The foolishness and boorishness of some does in fact impact others and minimizing it for the offender isn’t entirely helpful. But the church didn’t do this.
The leadership of France did.
And whatever negative impact, if any, should be placed squarely there—wherever and with whomever those decisions laid. What gaslighting behavior to purposefully offend a group and then blame the group for being ignorant or overly-sensitive when they noticed.
If it was a pagan orgy that was only reminiscent of religious art—is that really better?
Unholy is unholy.
Sigh with relief for the one picture it wasn’t. Then grieve for the repudiation of the many commandments it very much was. -
Am I the only one who didn't watch one second of the opening ceremony? I honestly couldn't give a fuck, it's just this bullshit thing that happens before the Olympics start.
The only reason I know what happened is because of TNCR.
It's like the Oscars. Who cares what a bunch of assholes think was the best movie of the year? And yet, every freaking year people talk about it when they could be watching a movie.
And don't get me started on the Eurovision "song" contest. The two countries who make the best rock and roll in the world never win a fucking thing. OK, one of them isn't in the contest, but still.....
Aaaanyway.......

Nope. I didn't ether.

In retrospect, it was nice (fun?) watching the likes of Mohammed Ali and other great athletes in the opening ceremonies. This year we got Snoop Dog.

And we thank you for your participation.

OK, I'm an ignoranus. Who're you talking about?

@LuFins-Dad I’m now calling you “Brad” lol .
Shhhh … I went to a Halloween party in uni as “Janet” with a “Brad”.

You've probably never experienced Eurovision, and for that you should be eternally grateful.
The two countries I referred to being the US (who aren't in it (yet)), and the UK.

Eh, sorta. I mean not really but ironically that's something the right and the left both agree on, wrong though they are.
