I haven't eaten there in years.

You can get a LOT better meal in New Orleans. But, for a buffet, the food is much, much better than the slop at Golden Corral. Looks like it still is...
Down in Metairie...

I like buffets. LOL
(Somewhat related, but here is the standard operating procedure for workers in a US Chinese buffet, and is one reason why they are relatively "cheap". I should add that this is SOME (not all( of the Chinese buffets.
- 90% of the workers are in the US illegally
- typical work week is 6 days/week, generally 12 hours/day
- usually room and board is provided. Most meals will be eaten at the buffet. The buffet owner will own a house and the workers will stay there.
- wait staff often does not get a salary, but makes their money through tips. Kitchen staff will get a salary (at least partially in cash), not a lot but more than they could make back home.
- Most of the staff is sending a significant part of their salary back to their home country
- Adverts are all over a big city Chinatown (like Chicago) advertising for restaurant workers )
