Yup. Greenshirt guy approached the truck, pistol in hand. That, right there, is an imminent threat.

It’s reasonable that if you see an angry person who has just cut you off in traffic walking towards you with a gun in hand, that you too would want to have a gun in hand ready if you are within reach of one, just in case.

My car's dash cam is on all the time. If the car is not running, it has a motion sensor, and will start to record anything in the field of view of the cameras. It does this even if I'm not in the car.
It records in UHD.
