So much for dialing down the rhetoric.

Remember when the left lost its collective mind when Sarah Palin supposedly gave a "Nazi salute" at a rally?
These people need to get a grip.
By the way, what the AF is an authoritarianism expert?

With Trump leading the polls coming into the year, I figured there was a legitimate shot he could win, but the Dems would retain the Senate or keep it close, and win the House. With this shit going on, they might be headed to a disaster. There were going to be some that would vote for Trump but vote D downballot. With them pulling this crap, and trying to pack the courts, they are going to lose all three, and I think substantially. Republicans with 55 seats, maybe even 60 in the Senate?

This might resonate a little bit if there were any evidence that the shooter was animated by supercharged rhetoric, or even that he was politically motivated.
Granted it’s early days, but we haven’t really seen anything indicating he was.

It doesn’t matter what individual crazy people are “motivated” by, to the extent their motivations are rational to begin with. The mainstream rhetoric is what it is, for ill or for good, regardless of Mr Crooks and his mind space.
It’s also useful to keep in mind that we wouldn’t even be having this conversation without an historic faceplant by the secret service. I’m not one to invest huge meaning in things that so easily could not have happened, and which by all rights should not have happened.
Similar to how the rhetoric of January 6 would not be a thing, if Capitol security had been reasonable.

You know, if the SS had taken him out before a shot was fired the Trump camp would be accused of murdering a young man and it would be evidence of his dictatorial intentions.

They wouldn’t even need to do that… Just postpone Trump from taking the stage until they tracked the kid down… If that happens, the news this week is about Biden stepping down…
But, they did screw it up, and now we have:
If I told you a month ago that DEI would cost Dems the election, I bet you would never have believed it was this way!
