I think in general this is an increasing problem. There's also been a lot of concern in the UK over the increase in death threats and assault attempts. According to the British Speaker of the House of Commons intimidation and threats are at unprecedented levels. There have been two MP's murdered in the last 8 years - one by a right-wing nutter, and one by an Islamic one.

I agree and it is sad and unfortunate.
Not only in the political area - but in all areas. Going to an airport for example.
