@George-K said in George and Cats - Your AOC Post of the Day:

What Yoho said was irresponsible and wrong.

What AOC said was inaccurate. He did not make his comment on the floor of the House.

Regarding “comment on the floor of the House,” AOC was referring to the “apology” that Yoho gave on the House floor regarding the vulgar remarks he made earlier in front of the Capitol.

So he abused her on the floor of the House? Really? She didn't like what he said, she thought it was an inadequate statement. But abuse? C'mon. What disrespect did he show on the floor?

I know, I'm picking nits here, but her statement is false. He showed no disrespect on the floor. She is offended because she sees his apology as inadequate.

You may be picking nits, but that is your prerogative. Do you mind being more specific on which statement of AOC from that speech that you think is false? Without knowing which statement you say is false, I cannot determine whether you are picking the correct nits or maybe it is just a misunderstanding.

I thought AOC has been very clear on why she decided to make that speech on the House floor:

... Dehumanizing language is not new, and what we are seeing is that incidents like these are happening in a pattern. This is a pattern of an attitude towards women and dehumanization of others. So while I was not deeply hurt or offended by little comments that are made—when I was reflecting on this, I honestly thought that I was just going to pack it up and go home. It’s just another day, right? But then yesterday Rep. Yoho decided to come to the floor of the House of Representatives and make excuses for his behavior, and that I could not let go. I could not allow my nieces, I could not allow the little girls that I go home to, I could not allow victims of verbal abuse and worse to see that, to see that excuse and to see our Congress accept it as legitimate, and to accept it as an apology, and to accept silence as a form of acceptance. ... My mother got to see Mr. Yoho’s disrespect on the floor of this House towards me on television. ...

AOC made it quite clear that it's Rep. Yoho's "[making] excuses for his behavior" on the House floor that prompted her to make that speech.

Is it your contention, then, that somehow it's not possible for an attempt at "apology" to be "disrespectful"? Do you need to see Rep. Yoho's "apology" on the House floor to make that determination? If so, the following video (skip to the 25-second mark) shows the exact delivery of Rep. Yoho's supposed "apology":

      AOC on decency:
"Having a daughter does not make a man decent. Having a wife does not make a decent man. Treating people with dignity and respect makes a decent man. And when a decent man messes up, as we all are bound to do, he tries his best and does apologize.”

How did he "disrepect" (I hate that word) her on the House floor? She didn't like what he said, that's fair enough.

ON THE HOUSE FLOOR, he didn't insult her.

In her mind, he didn't grovel enough.

I suppose you can tell a lot about a person by who they're more viscerally revolted by, Trump or AOC.

Not really. Trump is a national representative.

George has a better idea of what happened, I think, so he can correct me if I'm wrong. Yoho was coming down the Capitol steps as AOC was going up. I think they had some kind of brief exchange, and as Yoho was walking away he was heard to say, 'fucking bitch'.

Maybe he simply saw a puppy dog, and AOC assumed it was directed at her, since it happens dozens of times daily.

I haven't followed this at all. Is there someone named Yoho, really?

From this morning's CNN headlines: C-SPAN tweeted AOC's remarks on the House floor, and "it became the most retweeted post ever sent by the network. Within the tweet's first 24 hours, it has been retweeted more than 95,000 times and has more than 220,000 likes.

You don't suppose Biden would turn his eye to teh Icon, do you? Oh god. An old man as prez with AOC as his successor . . .

No, she's not qualified. I mean literally, per the constitution. She's too young.

We would know that if we could see her birth certificate.

I got to read her floor speech. It wasn't bad actually, especially for her. But it had no place on the floor of the United States Congress.

I watched her speech. First, she talked about how tough she was, how she worked at a working lass job, rode the subway, etc. I especially liked the part where she declared proudly that she walked the streets of New York. I agree, a New York City streetwalker has to be tough.

Then, she finished it out in an absolute whine fest, cloaked in indignation and righteous anger.

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton
