Not a bad idea considering the ridiculous price of tickets.

        Blatant anti-trust behavior.

Yeah yeah I know. They got a carve out.

They clave to get the union to sign on to the agreement as well.

Personally? I’m a fan of letting the market work itself out for the various positions. Teams that are overpaying for QB will ultimately pay the price.

As for @Mik point about the ticket prices, capping QB pay isn’t going to help. The teams have a hard Cap including minimum spending requirements based on a static percentage of revenue of the prior year. They aren’t raising ticket prices to help cover salaries, if anything, it’s the opposite.

Frankly, the position that I would consider capping if I could would be WR. Jamar Chase is about to get paid $40M per year for 7 touches per game. There are typically 63 offensive snaps per game. Tying up that much of your cap into the WR1 position is counterproductive.

The rumor mill is that the Steelers have decided to not pay wideouts anymore. Draft them early and often, since wideouts are performing at peak within the first two seasons, then let them walk at free agency as you already have young talent ready to go at a far lower price. I like that idea.

I guess it becomes a marketing decision as well as a productivity decision. Teams with compelling QBs are easier to market, even if those QBs make so much that the team wins less.

            Education is extremely important.

There are maybe 5 game changing QBs in the league at any one time and are worth their costs. At the same time there are another 5 being paid the same as them, and dragging down their teams.

Maholmes, Burrow, Allen, Jackson, Stroud are great QBs that can push bad teams to win.

Prescott, Tagavoala, Lawrence, Herbert, Watson are okay QBs being paid like top tier QBs, and as a result are making their teams worse

Then there are okay QBs being paid median, and will improve their teams through quality of their play as well as a reasonable price tag to allow talent around them. Cousins, Love, Stafford, Goff… This is the sweet spot..

In all fairness, you guys went “ALL-IN!” for quite a few years. Sooner or later you have to pay the piper… You guys had quite a few drafts with 2-4 picks. That means you aren’t getting performers on rookie contracts, and have to spend a lot more for veterans, typically a lower return on dollar spent.
