Gotta say, I've never been a huge fan of Princess Diana.

Of course her premature death was horrible, and I still remember it.

    But....

    Kate >>>Diana

    And IWHT.

Hard to compare. But your point is taken.

Kate is in another league of natural beauty. Di's "beauty" was a narrative more than anything.

        Education is extremely important.

Diana always struck me as a bit of a "whack." Even before her untimely death, I thought she was WAY over her head when it comes to the family/position she bought in to.

I suppose you could excuse that, but she never struck me as one to "fit in."

OTOH, the current queen never appealed to me either.

Catherine has beauty, grace, class, poise and comfort in the role. Admirable qualities.

"Royalty" is not a case where the most suitable candidate is hired to fill a role.
            This is nepotism.
            Manage your expectation accordingly.

I don’t think the general public was aware of the royal family’s expectations until Diana’s story came out. Then everyone was, including Catherine. She was able to make a more informed decision and was marrying a man with a wider perspective than Charles.

I don't think the general public was completely aware, but many of the people who move in those circles probably are.
