What a way to go

I have been aware of similar situations with nitrogen filled tanks. One person passes out, the second person notices and their first instinct is to go in after them. Best thing you can do is to stick an air hose into the tank. (But that may have not been available in this situation. Sad.
)
Two men have died in upstate New York after falling into a manure tanker, local police said.
One of the men attempted to retrieve a piece of equipment that had fallen into the tanker, the Kirkland Police Department told WKTV.
βHe passed out and fell inside of the tanker,β police said, adding that the second man also passed out and fell in as he tried to help.

I suppose this is not something one thinks of, that in a confined space with no fresh air, whatever air in there may not be breathable. Best not to go in without ensuring breathable air supply first.

Ax, I agree with this. Before going somewhere, ensure there is breathable air first.
This is sometimes difficult. I am going to visit France later this year, and I have already ordered a can of French air from Amazon. It will get here soon. I will enter a vacuum chamber (which I purchased for this purpose) and suck all the indigenous air out of it. Then I will open the can of French air, which will quickly escape the can and fill the chamber. I will then breathe deeply of the French air, and see how I feel.
