I may have posted this story before, so if I did, apologies.

A story told by a former TNCR member:

Before we rented a house in the Czech Republic, I usually stayed in a hotel for six to eight weeks at a time. On one trip in September I booked the hotel for six weeks. After staying there for two week, on a Thursday evening the hotel informed me I had to move out in the morning until Monday. I asked what was going on and they said there was a big air show at the local airport and the Russian Air force had booked the whole hotel. I asked if there was another place to get a room and they said there were no rooms available in the city or surrounding area. I then asked if they had a sister or partner hotel anywhere where I could get a room. They said they only had a partner hotel in Brno Cz, and they had a room there. I had been wanting to visit Brno and even though it was 120 miles away I took the room.

I left at noon the next day and drove to Brno. I found the hotel and checked in parking in the hotel garage. As I was driving to the hotel I noticed about two blocks away an email shop where you could check your email and send some. It was around 3:30, so I decided to walk down to the email shop. As I was walking I saw what appeared to be a nice restaurant and I decided to stop there for dinner on my way back to the hotel. When I was done with my emails, I walked back to the restaurant and the doorman opened the door and welcomed me in.

As I went in it was busy and it looked like a big tourist group was there as everyone was intermingling. I took an empty table and sat down. There was a huge buffet set up which was unusual for Eastern Europe and there were no waiters I noticed. I got up and went to the buffet and got a plate and noticed there was also a buffet type bar set up and loaded with an array of drinks. I went to my table and was about finished eating when two young men came over with a bottle of wine and offered me some. They were speaking Czech so I couldn't understand them. One of the guys left and got another guy who could speak a few words.

The new guy asked me which side I was from, and I assumed he meant the Pacific and England or America. I answered America. He stammered and then said said, no, which side you from, the bride side or groom side. I had crashed a wedding.

I got all shook up and apologized and offered to pay for my meal. They were insisting I stay, they said the wedding party would soon be there and the bride spoke fluent English and would be happy I was there. They joined me at my table and it was a major question and answering session until the wedding party got there. Someone told the bride about me and she came over and welcomed me to the reception.

After I was there a couple hours an older woman came to me and was ranting and shaking her finger at me. I didn't understand a word she said and assumed she was mad that I was there. I went to tell the bride I was leaving and said the elderly lady was mad I was there. The bride laughed and said that the elder lady was her grandmother and she was paying for the reception. She said the grandmother said to me that I wasn't eating enough, drinking enough, or dancing enough, and I should be enjoying myself. I settled back down and at insistence from everyone had a few drinks.

They changed the buffet every two hours to a different type of food, and the drink bar stayed fully stocked. It was a fabulous party and I got to know many of the guests.

Before you knew it, it was three in the morning and everyone was barely able to stand up and the place was wanting to close up. There was a problem as the public transportation was not operating. I went down to the hotel and got my car and came back to the reception. We loaded up three from the wedding party and another guy sober enough to give directions and I drove them all to their homes. The sun was coming up when I got back to the hotel and hit the bed. I didn't do much the rest of the day

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
