Not Bad, but I think he could have nursed a few more feet out of it.
In that situation I wouldn't lower the landing gear until the runway was assured. In this case the runway (actually a taxiway) wasn't assured until altitude was less than maybe 10-15 feet.
The reason to wait is that the gear creates a lot of drag which could have prevented him from reaching the runway.
He seemed to lose control right at the end. That probably didn't add much to the repair bill since he was already landing without landing gear. But it does cost him a few style points.

Yeah, I saw that, but what, exactly is the nature of the failure?
Also, I'm surprised that such a small plane has retractable gear. Any idea what kind of plane that is?

Without looking it up, I'm guessing it is something like a Cessna 177RG Cardinal (RG stands for retractable Gear).
I think they haven't been built for over 40 years, but you can still see them around.
They also used to make a 172RG Cutlass, and 182RG Skylane. I don't think they make anything like this with retractable gear anymore.
