      It never left.

      “Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

      Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

        https://www.washingtonpost.com/style/2024/02/27/will-anti-trump-republicans-vote-for-biden/

        Sarah Matthews, former deputy press secretary to Trump:

        ... if her choices on Election Day are Trump and Joe Biden? She’ll support Biden. “We can survive bad policy from a second Biden administration,” Matthews says, “but I don’t think we can survive a second Trump term, in terms of our democracy.”

          The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

              As far as I can gather from the absolute garbage attempts I've seen by TDS sufferers to justify their existential fears, all imaginable paths for a Trump coup by paperwork, depend on a complicit SCOTUS. Then we separate the TDS true believers, from the slightly more sane ones who just enjoy the emotional catharsis of believing Trump is an existential threat, but who have no reasonable theory of a coup in mind. The true believer group thinks SCOTUS is already in Trump's pocket, and if SCOTUS is all that separates us from a coup by paperwork, then it's all but a done deal.

              Education is extremely important.

                  Why does no one ever say, "Our republic is in danger?"

                    Because they desire a democracy, not a republic. A democracy can be a mob led by a group of elite. As long as you are in the elite, you have wealth, fame and power, as long as the mob buys the fable you're promoting.

                      @Jolly nah.

                      Never attribute to malice that which can be explained by ignorance.

                      People really don't understand how our government (is supposed to) works.

                        In all fairness, our government has kind of done it to itself over the years. Senators are now elected instead of appointed, states are vowing to tie their electoral votes to the national popular vote, the move to do away with the electoral college.

                        People are idiots. The bigger the group of people, the worse they get. A pure democracy would be about the worst form of government possible.

                          I remember something about people getting the government they deserve and getting it good and hard.

                            People are just a blank slate. It's not as if evolution ever considered high times on high principles. But the animal always lurks. And the losers may just kill us all.
