Good! There is a way to protest and a way to protest.

The scene at UF, home to the largest number of Jewish public college students in America,…

At first that surprised me but I guess it makes sense. One might think an NY uni would have that distinction but, unlike most states, NY doesn’t really have a flagship state U, or even two. The SUNY system consists of two dozen colleges. And while a couple are larger than the others, (Buffalo and Albany), none are dominant in the way UF or UT might be.

They’ll end up, after a lot of drama, with the same formula they use every time they have a trifecta: take away health care and food assistance from low income families and use the money to fund tax cuts for their donors.

I wonder if that's because there are that many Jews in Florida or because of their grandparents?

If you worked it right...Florida has a program, Bright Futures, which applies to any student graduating from a public high school in Florida. The key is graduate, along with taking the right high school courses. The program will pay a significant portion of tuition at Florida universities, as in up to 100% (I think).

Secondly, Florida has a state 529 plan that offers a prepaid option for public universities. For example, for a child born 4/1/24, it's $134/month.

Maybe...If you knew you were retiring to Florida, have junior finish his senior year down there and reap the benefits?

          Just spitballing here...

I am really surprised that there have been no “pitching tent” jokes. I applaud the maturity of the room.
