Emmanuel Butler had two good college years at the FCS level, then hurt his shoulder, taking him out of the 2017 season. His 2018 season was not as good as 2015 or 2016, but he did sign as an UDFA with the Saints.
Kid had a decent camp and the Saints signed him to the practice squad. After camp the next year, he was cut. Since then, he's played in the CFL, XFL, USFL and UFL. He scored the winning TD for Houston this past weekend.
He's not seen the field a lot during his career. In fact, he hasn't had much of a career. Now, he's five years in and making peanuts.
For so many guys, the dream dies hard...

I think that giving up a career is a lot harder for athletes maybe than other professions.
