In 1945, Churchill gave a lunch in Egypt for King Ibn Saud of Saudi Arabia. I never thought about it that way. I took it as Churchill’s way of reminding the Saudi King that he was the guest and that he, Churchill, was the host in his capacity as Prime Minister of the Government of the United Kingdom and representative of the British Crown and Empire.

I am no fan of Bibi Netanyahu and think too that he has to go sooner rather than later; but what I think is neither here or there.
However, what Schumer said in his capacity as Senate Majority Leader is way out of line. In that role what he says and does is of US foreign policy consequence. My opinion on Netanyahu’s suitability is of zero worth to anyone or anything.
What Schumer said is interference in Israeli internal matters. He should be called upon to resign.
