    Er...no.

The Pentagon’s Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency says that Finnegan’s plane actually was lost over the open ocean on May 14, 1944.

“For unknown reasons, this plane was forced to ditch in the ocean off the north coast of New Guinea. Both engines failed at low altitude, and the aircraft’s nose hit the water hard,” the military’s account says.

He wasn't shot down, and no cannibals ate him.

He also repeated the "My son, Beau, got brain cancer in Iraq" fabrication.

Washington Post: "Off on the details."

        https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2024/04/17/biden-uncle-world-war-ii-cannibals-trump/3b68fc12-fd0a-11ee-87ac-20f7e67cbe29_story.html

President Joe Biden on Wednesday misstated key details about his uncle’s death in World War II as he honored the man’s wartime service and said Donald Trump was unworthy of serving as commander in chief.

"Misstated." Does the Washington Post, which assures us that "Democracy dies in darkness" mean "Lied" or "Made up"?

While in Pittsburgh, Biden spoke about his uncle, 2nd Lt. Ambrose J. Finnegan Jr., aiming to draw a contrast with reports that Trump, while president, had called fallen service members “suckers” and “losers.”

Finnegan, the brother of Biden’s mother, “got shot down in New Guinea,” Biden said. The president said Finnegan’s body was never recovered and “there used to be a lot of cannibals” in the area. Biden, who also relayed a version of the story earlier in the day after stopping by the memorial in Scranton, was off on the particulars.

The U.S. government’s record of missing service members does not attribute Finnegan’s death to hostile action or indicate cannibals were any factor.

        See "made up" comment.

“We have a tradition in my family my grandfather started,” said Biden, a toddler at the time of his uncle’s death in 1944. “When you visit a gravesite of a family member — it’s going to sound strange to you — but you say three Hail Marys. And that’s what I was doing at the site.”

Referring to Trump, the presumptive GOP presidential nominee, Biden said, “That man doesn’t deserve to have been the commander in chief for my son, my uncle.”

Biden’s elder son, Beau, died in 2015 of brain cancer, which the president has stated he believes was linked to his son’s yearlong deployment in Iraq, where the military used burn pits to dispose of waste.

Which has never been proven - Beau dies YEARS after his time as an attorney in Iraq.

Some former Trump officials have claimed the then-president disparaged fallen service members as “suckers” and “losers” when, they said, he did not want to travel in 2018 to a cemetery for American war dead in France.

Because the weather prevented such travel.

The Democratic president also misstated when uncles enlisted in the military, saying they joined “when D-Day occurred, the next day,” in June 1944, when they actually joined weeks after the Dec. 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor.

Ah, what's a couple of years?

Biden, in his 2008 book “Promises to Keep,” made only brief mention of his uncle, describing him as flyer who was killed in New Guinea.

We don't know he was "killed," do we? We only know that he died.

Mehhh, I will give him a geezer pass on this one. The date his uncle’s joined could easily get mixed up. As for the uncle and the cannibalism, I could also easily see an uncle with a warped sense of humor making a little Joe think his other uncle was ate by cannibals…

George, you know as well as I do that some diseases take years to start. For example, I think there is enough study that shows smoking can cause cancer later in life, even if you quit years ago.

I think research is also showing that the burn pits in Iraq were not very good to health. Of course, there is no proof, but if I was a parent who had a (otherwise healthy) son die of brain cancer, it would not be unusual to grasp at reasons.

(But President Biden is very obviously not all there)

              LOL:

IMAGINE BEING THE US AMBASSADOR TO NEW GUINEA RIGHT NOW...

To Sir Bob Dadae, Governor General of Paua New Guinea

From {name witheld} US Ambassador to Papua New Guinea

              Your Excellency,

Please accept this letter as my nation's formal apology for the unfortunate statement accidentally misspoken three times (over a relentless 6-hour period) this week by President Joseph Robinette Biden. It was merely a misunderstanding that the president deeply and profoundly regrets.

He has a stutter, you know?

When President Biden said his Uncle was shot down and crashed in New Guinea during World War 2 and that his body was never recovered, he did not mean to imply that he had been eaten by residents of your beautiful island nation. Of course, President Biden's gratuitous mention that "there used to be a lot of cannibals in that part of New Guinea" was just a further manifestation of his chronic stutter and was in no way meant to imply that his dear uncle was devoured by your great grandfather.

It will comfort you to know that the insinuation (brought on by his stutter) that his uncle fell victim to New Guinea cannibals was just the least of President Biden's er... misstatements in re-telling the tale of poor, unfortunate Uncle Bosie.

              If you will permit me...

"And when D-Day occurred, the next day, on Monday, all four of my mother’s brothers went down and volunteered to join the military. And four of them — three of them made it. One was 4-F — couldn’t go."

We think that, perhaps, President Biden was referring to the attack on Pearl Harbor, not the D-Day invasion of Normandy. It not make any sense that his four uncles would wait until the June 1944 invasion to enlist.

And, considering Uncle Bosie's plane went down one month before the Normandy invasion, it's logical to assume that his chronic stutter made him say "D-Day" instead of "Pearl Harbor Day."

"And Ambrose Finnegan — we called him “Uncle Bosie” — he — he was shot down."

It turns out the plane carrying the president's brother was "forced to ditch" due to apparent engine failure, it was not shot down.

"He was Army Air Corps before there was an Air Force. He flew single-engine planes, reconnaissance flights over New Guinea. He had volunteered because someone couldn’t make it."

By all accounts, the mission was not a reconnaissance mission but, rather, a courier mission.

"He got shot down in an area where there were a lot of cannibals in New Guinea at the time. They never recovered his body."

Again... the plane was not shot down. And, to make matters even more uncomfortable for all of us, the plane was ditched in the Pacific, not on the island of New Guinea. So, even if there were "a lot of cannibals in New Guinea at the time" they wouldn't have had the opportunity to roast and devour the president's uncle unless they did some pretty impressive swimming.

So, to sum up: The president's uncle did not enlist after D-day, he was not on a reconnaissance mission, he was not shot down, he did not crash on the island of New Guinea and he was most certainly not eaten by cannibals.

Other than that, the story was completely accurate and any misstatements that may have confused you or the good people of New Guinea should be completely blamed on the president's chronic, persistent, and damnable stutter.

I hope this clears up any confusion or consternation the fine people of Papua New Guinea may be experiencing at this delicate time. Please, rest assured, the president does not, I repeat does not believe his uncle was eaten by your island's greatest generation.

In fact, President Biden doesn't even remember what he said earlier this week. To him, it is literally as if it had never happened. He has no memory of it whatsoever.

              With Sincerest Regards,

              {name witheld}

US Ambassador to Papua New Guinea (for now)

Joe made a simple mistake. He misheard his dad and other uncles saying the uncle was stoned and consumed by cannabis when he crashed. Little Joe heard it as stoned and consumed by cannibals wen he crashed.
