    The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

      I think there are similar, if not identical, statutes here as well. Although on the surface they appear laughable, they can and are used to haul suspected criminals into custody during ongoing investigations for other offences. Criminal tax laws can be very useful in the pursuit of criminals of the organized sort. After all, Al Capone went down on tax charges rather than racketeering or numerous other offences.

        I was going to comment something similar. I believe that there are a number of mobsters that had to be busted on tax laws.

          It might be hard to prove actual money-laundering, but if they can find a large undeclared income that might be enough for tax evasion purposes?

          I was only joking

                  @Doctor-Phibes

                  And here I had naively thought those two were just emphasizing through needless repetition what I had already wrote earlier in this thread.

                        I watched a young woman on Tik Tok who reviewed her income and taxes on video. She noted she had earned around $380,000 from her independent contractor work and investments. She works as a stripper at a club. She paid $118,000in taxes.
