And I saw a note that he timed the resigning so that the congress seat would not/could not be filled until the Nov. election. He was so fed up with the Republic party that he left them with one less vote (and decrease in their majority) for the next ~seven or eight months.

The party is changing. Morphing. It's still going to be conservative, but believe it will be more protectionist, somewhat union-friendly and more appealing to the conservative elements of the hispanic and black communities.

I think that the "pendulum" has swung as far as it is going to go with the President Trump style republic party. It is going to start moving back I think.
