Everybody at Dead Spin gets canned....

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

While the Deadspin thing is pretty cut-and-dried whatever, there are a handful of details in that video that are really fucked up.

"Are you going to be honest? No, you're not. Because you're a journalist."

"The journos will land on their feet somewhere else as they always do. That's how it works, they'll have a new cushy job, they'll be writing, they'll have a new 401(k)."

That language is ridiculous, disgusting and dangerous.

      Please love yourself.

Consider her age and her success. She may not have experienced severe rejection or job loss.

Should call them cultural commentators rather than journalists. Then the language is more appropriate. Though it's optimistic that there's a thriving job market for the masses of cultural pundits with journalism degrees or journalism ambitions.

          Education is extremely important.

Perhaps. But she has definitely not experienced journalism.

It used to be, society falsely believed that journalists do the work of encyclopedias, gathering facts and reporting on them. Storytelling is necessary to convey the information, but we pretended that was a bad thing and that real journalists were above this. Which of course wasn't true.

Now we believe that journalists are fat-cat propagandists who sit on their ass and destroy lives to keep the money rolling in. Problem is, they're whipping a dead horse. The 4th estate's in ruins. People like this have taken its place. We are not better off.

            Please love yourself.

There isn't. This was an outright lie told with the intention of fueling the audience's hatred for journalism generally, not just these particular dipshits.
