I've talked about the Honorverse, a literary world created by David Weber. It started as a female Hornblower in space premise, but does have some side stories. I was just checking...Mostly by himself, but with some collaborations, Weber has created 37 books in the Honorverse. Eighteen featuring the central character, Honor Harrington, the rest featuring other characters within the same setting.

I would find that very hard to do and keep continuity.

    Wonder how authors do that?

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Most times they aren’t doing it by themselves. They have fan clubs helping to track and obsess. In the case of some, they have professional teams. Brandon Sanderson comes to mind, there.

Those worlds are real to them. Take everything you've read, multiply it by a million and that's what they know about the story.

And yeah, there is the odd Sanderson here and there. But they're rarities.

          Please love yourself.
