Fani Woes

Fani lied?
A lawyer for one of former President Donald J. Trump’s co-defendants in the Georgia election case suggested on Friday that the two prosecutors leading the case had lied about when their romantic relationship started.
The defense lawyer, Ashleigh Merchant, said that a witness she hoped to put on the stand could testify that the romantic relationship between Fani T. Willis, the Fulton County district attorney, and the special prosecutor managing the Trump case, Nathan J. Wade, had begun before Ms. Willis hired Mr. Wade.
That would contradict Mr. Wade, who said in a recent affidavit that his relationship with Ms. Willis had not begun until 2022, after his hiring. The affidavit was attached to a court filing made by Ms. Willis.
Ms. Merchant identified the witness as Terrence Bradley, a lawyer who once worked in Mr. Wade’s law firm and for a time served as Mr. Wade’s divorce lawyer. “Bradley has non-privileged, personal knowledge that the romantic relationship between Wade and Willis began prior to Willis being sworn as the district attorney for Fulton County, Georgia in 2021,” Ms. Merchant’s filing, which came late Friday afternoon, states.
If true, lying to the court about this issue could get her in some serious trouble. Could she lose her license? Get disbarred? Jailtime for perjury?

The House Judiciary Committee sent a subpoena to Willis on Feb. 2 for documents germane to her potential misuse of federal funds related to her indictment of former President Donald Trump. Willis did not accept the subpoena after it was emailed to her, causing the U.S. Marshals Service to have to serve the subpoena to her themselves, a source familiar with the matter told the Daily Caller.
What a pleasant person.

But wait, there's more.
The state Senate Special Committee on Investigations convened its inaugural session Friday to probe allegations of misconduct against Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, who has faced criticism for her intimate relationship with Special Prosecutor Nathan Wade, who was hired to lead the investigation into the Georgia 2020 election interference case.
Sen. Bill Cowsert (R-Athens) emphasized the committee's commitment to truth-seeking rather than a political witch hunt, stating, "This is not a political witch hunt; this is a quest for the truth."
As the meeting commenced, Cowsert dropped a bombshell, revealing that multiple whistleblowers within the Fulton County DA's office have expressed eagerness to testify. They allege misuse of federal and state funds, further escalating the scrutiny surrounding Willis.
Cowsert highlighted the gravity of the situation, stating, "You lose the confidence of the public and the fairness of the criminal justice system if they think prosecutors are engaged in prosecution so their lovers can get rich."

The accusations surrounding Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis could impact Atlanta's community of lawyers forever, one defense attorney said.
"This case is personal," Noah Pines, an Atlanta-based attorney who has been closely following the case, told newspaper The Atlanta Journal-Constitution on Monday. "This case will, in my opinion, impact the relationship of these lawyers forever. And that's kind of disheartening."

Seems like a state investigation should be imminent.

It happened the day after the allegations came out.
You can’t expect black women to be perfect or something.

The first one is hilarious. The music choice.

George - where is that from? The tweeter (xer?) doesn't mention what the documents even are, let alone their source.

I haven't been following this one too closely. Could someone do a TLDR on why she's in trouble? (I know she's sleeping with this dude that's on her legal team)
My understanding is that he has no expertise in the area he was hired for - but can they attribute that to the relationship? Is there something else at play?

She appointed the attorney AFTER she started a relationship with him.
Wade has zero RICO experience.
Probably diverted campaign funds to pay for their vacations - he put it on his card and she repaid him. In cash money.
