When the suspect, later identified as Sterling Ramon Alavache, 36, became physical with one of the hostages by attempting to place her in a headlock with his knife at her throat, a SWAT team sniper fatally shot him, Marceno said.

Better shot than me. Or most people.
Some folks just have the gift. A guy I worked with had a son that was a sniper on a SWAT unit. The kid had not been through the military school, as most had. He could just naturally shoot.
He attended some training through the feds, FBI, I think. He was the best in his class, even out-shooting the class instructor, when they were shooting from a helicopter. They tried to hire him, but he wanted to go back home.
Kid could shoot, though.

Speaking of snipers...
One if my friends was a Marine sniper in Vietnam. If it was standing still, it was dead. If it was running, he was no better than me.
He always shot a .308. When we were checking scopes and knew they were right, he'd shoot cereal boxes for us. Two hundred yards, he'd call his shots...Upper left, lower right, center...And hit them.
That's hitting a palm-sized target every time, 200 yards.
