Florida won't let them corrupt their children, so of course they go back to LA.

So out of the 2000 jobs, 1000 were actually just going to be transfers from California. And of those being transferred, a lot were fighting the move and threatening to quit if forced to relocate. Of the remaining 1000 positions, most were going to be in the Metaverse Division, which was shut down in March.

Oh, also announced this morning? They are also shuttering their Star Wars Immersive Resort. At $5,000 per couple, customers would be able to role play their entire vacation as being a part of the Rebel Alliance.

I suppose that will be blamed on DeSantis as well…

        Of course.

It's his problem they're bleeding money at ESPN and the Disney+ streaming channel, too.

Folks, my niece's husband is a glass contractor in Duval County. He also does some high end (think $30,000-$100,000) bathroom remodels and new bathroom construction.

He's having to turn down work. After hiring two more crews in the last few years.

Let’s see… Their new releases this year have by and large been box office failures. The park attendance is so low that they are offering steep discounts while shutting down attractions. Disney+ has been shedding subscribers and the CEO is publicly stating they may sell their TV assets. They are in the middle of a massive actor’s strike AND a writer’s strike, they have several major copyrights and trademarks expiring over the next 24 months unless they get Congressional action to protect the properties, non-conservative “Disney Adults” are up in arms over the Snow White remake.

So yeah, it’s relevant. I would think that they have higher priorities right now, and at this point it doesn’t really matter who’s right or wrong in this argument with DeSantis, it’s in their best interest to resolve it and mend partnerships that could help them through the current economic climate.

But the reasoning for the dismissal is brilliant and simple. Lack of standing. Show how the bad man hurt you… Forcing you to abide by the same rules and governance as every other frogging business in Florida works under hurts you? Then there are bigger issues.

This was pretty ballsy on DeSantis’ part -

The press conference was at Disney World.

I remember the incoherent attempts to frame that as DeSantis abusing government power to smite politically incorrect businesses. Oh yeah, that was this thread.

Central Florida's tourism oversight district will soon vote on a development plan with Disney.

The plan would greenlight $17 billion in development at Walt Disney World over 10 to 20 years.

It could herald the arrival of the much-rumored "fifth theme park" in Florida.

As I read into the deal, it was the quiet resolution one would expect after the spotlight of DeSantis’ campaign was gone.

Disney postponed their appeal pending a new agreement with the board, and DeSantis took two magats off the board and replaced them with serious people who have experience in development.
