Ohio reps propose eliminating state income tax

Louisiana is an interesting state. We have a 6% (max) income tax, but we do not tax government pensions or Social Security. We have property tax, but it's subject to Homestead Exemption and many people with modest homes pay no property tax, unless the live within a city limits. We do tend to have high sales taxes on the state and local level(10% total at my house)
So...If you are retired military or government worker, you don't want a palatial home and you're willing to live outside of a city limits, your state tax burden can be quite low.
