I do not know why GM quit production of this engine. Over the years, I owned three different variations of the Buick V6. Not the most powerful motor, it was as tough as nails. None of my vehicles died due to engine problems and I run a vehicle until the wheels wear out. Maybe that toughness is why Jeep bought it from GM to put in the CJ series.
The people at GM are idiots... High reliability, cheap parts, broad application and good fuel mileage.
