    There are talks about the Women's Tennis Association (WTA) moving the WTA Finals to Saudi Arabia.

    Given Saudi Arabia's treatment of women, this is of course controversial. Also linked above is an op-ed by two women's tennis Hall-of-Famers objecting to WTA's supposed choice of venue.

      I really dont get the whole controversy about sports and Saudi Arabia.

      With one hand, people get all upset that they are trying to host sporting events, etc.

      With the other hand, we sell them USD$billions of dollars of military equipment and buy USD$billions of dollars of oil.

      (On a Suadi related note, they are opening the first bar that serves alcohol in the country. It will be in the diplomat quarter and people who buy there must be registered.)
