Yup. Make it convenient, reliable and fast - it'll work.
With all the bellyachin' over why the US can't have a rail system like Europe, all you have to do is look at that map of Texas superimposed on top of Europe. It's not remotely the same.
For example, because of the cold that we're getting these next few days, all Empire Builder trains (Chicago to Seattle/Portland) are cancelled. Texas Eagle? No problem. People forget what a huge country we are.
ETA, Brightline is also working on a LA to Las Vegas route.
