MFR’s a fan so it is often on the boob tube. But I have to say the quality of talent this season is quite impressive. Some great singers and performers.

My cousin was the Assistant Director from 2011 - 2017

Sorry to say I've only seen it 1 or 2 times. My wife watched it a lot.

But I have seen a lot of her other work. Including a trip back stage at the Capitol Fourth in 2004. I sat at Stevie Wonder's piano for about 2 seconds.

Retired in CA now, she did a lot of live tv shows. I think her job was mostly to select camera shots for the live broadcast.

My nephew was a candidate for a singing competition show like that that never got off the ground. He was already out in LA filming when he admirably stepped away when they pressured him to come up with a background sob story, which is so very far from the truth. His childhood was marked by three or four family trips to Disney each year.

Like most of these "competitions", there's an element of rigging.

What I think it does show, is that there is a lot of talent out there. And they never make it big, for one reason or another.

The best artists came in last. It is rigged in that people who can discern the best singers are unlikely to vote.
