I enjoyed "Fall of the House of Usher" imagined and directed by Mike Flanagan. It was just campy enough to pique my interest. So, I relished and LOVED "Midnight Mass." I decided to take a dive into Flanagan's other works.
"The Haunting of Hill House" was a re-imagining of the Shirley Jackson novel. In typical Flanagan style, it jumps time frames and can be disconcerting. TO his credit, you HAVE to pay attention, because it's such a DENSE story.
He's followed up with "The Haunting of Bly Manor." This is based on James' "Turn of the Screw," which, being the philistine I am, I've never read. Watched one episode today...interesting, but not, yet, gripping.
He also did "Doctor Sleep," a Stephen King-approved sequel to "The Shining."
Anyone seen "Doctor Sleep?" It seems there's a 3 hour director's cut out there that might be worth a rental.
