Nice. So about 1 out of 10 adults in the country work for the government.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

Unsustainable. At least in any type of balanced budget.

Remember, the Government is by the People and for the People… So when you think about it, they are really just self-employed.

Argentina slashed the administrative staff in their government by 50%. I don't know if we need to do that drastic a cut, but we need to do some very obvious things:

              1. Cut the budgets on most Federal departments by 5%. Then, lock them into a budget freeze for five years.
              2. Reorient departments back to their missions. I'm sorry, but chasing down people for simple trespass charges that are years old, using the resources of the FBI is a waste of resources and money. Niggling a landowner over a piece of wetlands less than an acre, is a waste of the EPA's time and money. And the list goes on. Focus, focus, focus on the main mission of a department and accomplish it.
              3. Combine or reduce departments. We don't need Homeland Security as a cabinet department. Ditto for education...In fact, I'd like to see Education taken down to just a grant evaluation and disbursement subdivision.
              4. Get some of the departments out of Washington. Interior needs to be out West or in the middle of the country. Agriculture should be in the Midwest. Break up the schmooz circuit.
              5. Tackle the 800 pound guerilla...Social Security, Medicaid and Medicare. Take the cap off of the Social Security tax, but keep the benefit cap. Reform Medicare and Medicaid.
              6. Take some of our savings and invest in infrastructure. Not pork, needed infrastructure.
              7. Simplify the tax code and get rid of any staff increase at the IRS. With simpler rules, not as many agents are needed. Plus, enact tax code that stands for 25 years without change, unless 2/3's of Congress votes to change it.

              I'm sure there's more...

The rest of us work for the government until late sometime in April.
